Shouldn't Marriage Benefit Everyone?

Half a year ago, the California Supreme Court struck down the state’s ban on same-sex marriage. In a surprise 4-3 ruling, the Republican-dominated court made the case that excluding gays and lesbians from marriage is constitutionally suspect. The justices further argued that the constitution protects a fundamental “right to marry” that extends equally to same-sex couples.

Others may not see the irony in this day, but it is all too plain to me.
