This spring, the McGuinty Government appointed Dr. Charles Pascal to present a report recommending the implementation of a full day learning programme for 4 and 5 year olds in the province of Ontario. The report (http://www.ontario.ca/en/initiatives/early_learning/ONT06_018876) is thoughtful, creative and based on the premise that adults should work together in new ways to make the best possible environment for children in a way that best helps families.

R ecently at Oliver’s daycare, we were handed a folder outlining summer activities, including permission slips for day trips. Most of these day trips are for nearby parks or the children’s library, about six blocks from the day care building. But one trip involved a daylong trip to the Bowmanville Zoo, about an hour out of downtown Toronto. I wanted Oliver to go to the zoo, but the trip also meant getting on a bus, specifically a yellow school bus. No.

Tamar Wagman and Eryn Green, childhood best friends grew up to become business partners. After Tamar started experimenting with making her own baby food for her young son, she and Eryn decided they had an excellent business opportunity and founded Sweetpea Baby Food.
