Stephen introduces his son to the Ontario Science Centre and addresses his own nostalgia

Thomas Dolby might have been blinded with science, but when I was a kid, I was blinded by the Science Centre. It was always the big highlight for me whenever I visited Toronto either with my family or on a school trip, and I was excited to share it with my son Jack.

Winging it at the Flying Museum

We're not sure if it was a great war, but at least they got a decent flying museum out of it. (photo by Larry Koch)

Oliver has already been to a transit museum in New York City and visited a collection of vintage streetcars and trains in Halton County, but to date other forms of transportation have been considerably lower on his list of interests. When I discovered, however, that there was an aircraft museum near Brampton, I was pleasantly surprised to find that he was enthusiastic about the prospect of visiting it.

Wigglemania!

On Friday November 3rd at 6:30pm I had the privilege of bringing my two-year-old daughter Mia to her very first music concert. I almost said rock concert because the venue and the 7,000 screaming and dancing young fans reminded me of the good old days when I use to go and see all of my favourite bands. This however was not Duran Duran, Madonna or the Rolling Stones. This was WIGGLEMANIA, the fabulous singing and dancing foursome from Austraila THE WIGGLES. I am sure a majority of parents reading this will know who The Wiggles are from watching their fabulous TV show on Treehouse.

A Bowl of Notes

Roy Thomson Hall (photo by Mimi Choi)

Since becoming a mommy I find that there are days when I crave doing adult things so my life isn't totally about diapers, baby programming and baby music. But finding a babysitter for some of us doesn't come easy and can be very expensive; yet every once in awhile it's important that we spend the money and make the effort. On November 18th I took Mia, my two-year-old, and my 12-year-old niece to see a children's concert at Roy Thomson Hall.

Haunted Castle

O n August 19th, 2004, I gave birth to my first child. My beautiful daughter Mia. Up until that point I lived the first 37 years of my life sans kids and pretty much did what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it. But, things changed and I became a mommy. This meant a shift in finding new adventures with my brand-new daughter! Naturally the first few weeks were just trying to find a routine with this new bundle of joy and being totally housebound was taking its toll on me. At least Luc got to go to work and be amongst adults.
